Former NH Senator and Casino Owner Focuses on New Development
The man was accused of fraudulently acquiring $844,000 from a COVID-19 relief fund and misappropriating it, eventually getting into trouble. Although New Hampshire Route decided to suspend its gaming license, Sanborn was also given six months to sell the property.
According to a newly released report, the former senator attempted to sell Concorde Casino but was able to extend the sale deadline. At the same time, the court's decision reportedly ruled in favor of Sanbon on the grounds that it could develop a new casino on Radon Road.
As announced by Concord Monitor, Sanborn received approval from the New Hampshire Lottery Commission to extend the Concord Casino sales deadline. The original deadline was June 27, but was extended until July 18.
The committee also confirmed that the extension was in line with a previously announced order that allowed casino buyers to extend their deadlines where possible. Financial details were not disclosed at the time of writing, but active discussions are reportedly underway with potential future owners of Concord Casino.
The New Hampshire Lottery Commission may extend the casino's sell-by date further. However, the maximum period is limited to 90 days.
Sanbon's new casino development is going smoothly
The sale of Concorde Casino is a significant step forward in Sanborn's plans to build a new casino, as the sale of the property within a deadline set by gambling regulators could lift the suspension of gaming licenses. The result is that Sanborn will be able to continue to push forward with the proposed casino project on Break O'Day Drive.
A lawsuit challenging the city's local board's approval of the development was recently dismissed. The decision has brought positive progress to Sanborn's project, which proposed establishing a casino floor with restaurants and small breweries.
The aforementioned project also calls for the development of hotels and casinos. The gaming area is about 24,000 square feet and is expected to offer various gambling activities to around 650 guests.
