'Biggest ever' UFC 300 to take place Thursday

UFC 300 is the biggest mied martial arts event in history, featuring 12 former and current UFC champions. The event will feature three title fights and thrilling showdowns between fan-favorite fighters.

UFC 300: Pereira vs. Hill will take place on April 14 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The milestone 300th numbered event celebrates 30 years of UFC history, which began with UFC 1 in November 1993.

The event will be highlighted by triple title fights. Three titles will be up for grabs: light heavyweight (93 kilograms), women's strawweight (52.2 kilograms) and BMF (big man).

In the main event, UFC light heavyweight (93 kg) champion Alex Pereira (Brazil, 36) takes on former champion and current No. 1 ranked Jamahal Hill (USA, 32). Pereira is one of the greatest athletes in the history of combat sports, being the first to conquer two weight classes in kickboxing and then mixed martial arts (MMA). His opponent, Hill, is a former champion who had to vacate his title due to a ruptured Achilles tendon. This fight is a revenge match, which makes it even more exciting. Hill defeated Pereira's MMA mentor Glover Teixeira (44, Brazil) last January to become champion.

"I'm a realistic person, so I know I can lose," Pereira said. But I'm here to win," he said. "Whoever wins this fight is the real champion," said Hill, a former champion who has never lost a belt.

The co-main event will feature the UFC's first ever Chinese vs. Chinese title fight. Reigning women's strawweight (52.2 kilograms) champion Zhang Weili (34, China) will take on No. 1 ranked Yan Xiaonan (34, China). Both 34 years old, both are strikers based on the Chinese martial art Wushu Santa, and are expected to deliver a fiery fight.

The third bout on the main card will be a BMF title fight to determine the toughest man on the planet. BMF champion "Highlight" Justin Gaethje (USA), 35, will make his first defense at lightweight (70.3kg) against UFC featherweight (65.8kg) champion Max Holloway (USA), 32, in a matchup of two of the hottest men on the planet. To date, Gaethje has earned 12 fight night bonuses and Holloway 11.

There is no survival plan for the big men. "I don't usually plan to be alive the day after a fight," says Keiichi, adding that he's going all in. Holloway, the final opponent of "Korean Zombie" Chung Chan Sung (37), threw down the gauntlet: "Real men fight to the death.

The ultra-luxury bracket continues. Former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira (34, Brazil) and No. 4-ranked Arman Sarukyan (27, Armenia/Russia) will clash for the right to challenge champion Islam Makachev (32, Russia).

In her UFC debut, two-time Olympic judo legend Kayla Harrison (33USA) will take on one of the greatest legends in women's combat sports, Holly Holm (42USA), a three-time champion in boxing and the UFC women's bantamweight division (61.2 kg).

Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt (32 USA) and former UFC flyweight (56.7 kg) champion Davison Figueiredo (36 Brazil) will open the event in the opening bout. In addition, history-maker Jim Miller (40 USA), who has competed at UFC 100, UFC 200 and UFC 300, will meet No. 14-ranked Bobby Green (37 USA) in the lightweight division. Both fighters are veterans of veterans, with 103 fights combined.

UFC 300: Pereira vs. Hill will air live on Sunday, April 14 at 11 a.m. ET on the main card and 9 a.m. ET on the undercard on TVING.
