GS Caltex breaks up with director Cha Sang-hyun... End of 8 years together

Women's professional volleyball GS Caltex broke up with manager Cha Sang-hyun.

Shortly after the final regular season match against Heungkuk Life Insurance on the 15th, GS Caltex announced, "We discussed the future of the club with manager Cha Sang-hyun, who has led the team for a long time and put it in the strong team ranks, and decided not to renew the contract after much consideration for mutual development."

It ends eight years of solidarity. Cha took charge of GS Caltex during the December 2016 season. In addition to his unique flexible communication skills, he won the trust of players and the club with his strong charisma on the court.

During Cha's tenure, GS Caltex achieved the first treble in women's professional volleyball history (three wins). During the 2020-2021 season, the team ranked first in both cup competitions, championship game, and regular league.

GS Caltex had good performance through the first half of this season, but suffered a slump in the second half. In the last game of this season against Heungkuk Life Insurance, it lost 0-3 with a set score of 18 wins and 18 losses (51 points), and finished the season in fourth place. It failed to advance to the post season.

Coach Cha left a farewell saying, "I am truly grateful to the fans and the club for their constant support even in difficult situations." https://www.totosafedb.com/
