‘Hwang Hee-chan out due to injury’ Wolverhampton advances to 8th place in EPL, but even Neto has ‘hamstring nightmare’

Wolverhampton, without Hwang Hee-chan due to a hamstring injury, advanced to eighth place in the English Premier League.

Wolverhampton won 2-1 at home against Fulham in the 28th round of the EPL in the 2023-2024 season at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton on the 10th (Korea time). Wolverhampton, who went from 12 wins, 5 draws and 11 losses (41 points), went from 10th to 8th, but Newcastle United (40 points) in ninth place played one less game.

Nevertheless, Hwang Hee-chan, the team's most prolific scorer with 10 goals, remains on the rise despite missing his second straight game. Hwang Hee-chan collapsed in the grip of his hamstring during a home game against Brighton in the round of 16 teams in the FA Cup on April 29. It is a chronic injury. It takes at least four weeks for his hamstring to recover normally.

Wolverhampton scored the opening goal on a free-kick opportunity in the seventh minute of the second half against Fulham. Rayan Atnuri right-footed a ball passed by Joao Gomes from the right.

Wolverhampton, who gained momentum, scored an additional goal in the 22nd minute when Nelson Semedo's right footed shot from the penalty arc was deflected off Fulham midfielder Tom Kenny's body after João Gomes' heel pass. Kenny's own goal was recorded.

Fulham scored a comeback in second-half stoppage time but Alex Iwobi could not score any more.

Wolverhampton was also flawed in his victory. Pedro Neto, who leads the team's offense with Hwang Hee-chan, retired shortly before the end of the first half after being replaced by a left hamstring injury.

Wolverhampton is in a strange situation with all three strikers - Matheus Cunha, Hwang Hee-chan and Neto - suffering hamstring injuries.
