The Korea-Australia winner's quarterfinal partner is Jordan.

Jordan defeated reigning champions Tajikistan 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the Qatar Asian Cup at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in Qatar at 8:30 p.m. ET on Feb. 2.

Jordan made history by reaching the quarterfinals for the first time in Asian Cup history.

Both teams were 'upsets'.

Drawn in the same group as South Korea, Jordan reached the quarterfinals in dramatic fashion. After a 1-1 draw in the third round, Jordan suffered a shocking 0-1 loss to Bahrain.

After narrowly finishing third in the group, Jordan reached the round of 16 with a dramatic upset win over Group D's top-ranked Iraq. They scored the first goal, but conceded back-to-back goals. But they capitalized on the numerical advantage they gained with the sending off of Iraq's Hussein, scoring a dramatic equalizer in stoppage time to come from behind and win the game.

Tajikistan was even more dramatic. Tajikistan in Group A with Qatar, China, and Lebanon. It was a group of death. After three games with a 1-1 draw, it looked like Tajikistan would be out of the competition. However, a dramatic come-from-behind win over Lebanon in the third round saw them finish second in the group and advance to the round of 16. As underdogs, 안전놀이터 Tajikistan played their trademark physical football and drew 1-1 with the United Arab Emirates, before reaching the quarterfinals in dramatic fashion after a penalty shootout.

Neither country had ever reached the quarterfinals at the Asian Cup. Jordan's best result is the quarterfinals, while Tajikistan is making its first Asian Cup appearance.

Jordan lined up in a 3-4-3 formation. Al Naimat, Ali Olwan, and Al Tamariga form the back three. Al Mardi, Al Rawabdeh, Ayd, and Haddad in the second line. Al Azalin, Al Arab, Nasibi in the back three, and Aboulayla in goal.

Tajikistan plays a 4-4-2 formation with Dzhalilov and Samiyev up top. Mavachoyev, Pansanbe, Umarbayev, and Shukhurov in the second line. Safarov, Hannonov, Zuribayev, Nazarov in the back four. Atimov in goal.

Overall

Objective power and physicality both favored Jordan. However, Tajikistan was not to be denied.

The goal was clear. The counterattack was sharp.

Jordan, on the other hand, pressed forward early in the first half to exploit Tajikistan's physical weaknesses.

In the 15th minute, Tajikistan broke through when a cross from the right flank was met by a non-stop header from the veteran Panshanbe, but it hit the crossbar and was ruled out for offside. The counterattack was quite sharp.

Jordan threatened as they steadily increased their midfield possession.

However, nothing decisive came of it. They continued to attack down the left flank and create chances, but only had two shots on target.

Five minutes of extra time. Jordan had a golden opportunity, but Ali Olwan's shot went over the crossbar, leaving the score at 0-0. The first half was tight.

The half ended in Tajikistan's favor. With an objective power and physical disadvantage, Tajikistan intends to go to penalty kicks with a draw. Jordan, on the other hand, came out with a tactic of pressing hard and trying to cut off their opponents' breathing space.

The second half

The second half was a tense affair. Jordan pushed forward. However, Tajikistan's tight defense prevented them from attacking the goal.

Tedious offense. In the 15th minute of the second half, Jordan had a great breakthrough by Ace Al-Tamari, but he was unable to connect with his teammates.

However, it was a precursor to the goal. In the 20th minute, Jordan took the lead. A corner kick. A sharp ball in found the head of the onrushing Nasib. The ball deflected off the body of Tajik defender Hannounov and rattled the net. Hannounov scored an own goal.

1-0 Jordan lead.

Tajikistan fought back immediately. After a breakthrough in the center of the field, they had two powerful shots. However, they hit a defender and went wide of the goal. Tajikistan raised their defense, and Jordan counterattacked immediately. In the 25th minute, a quick counterattack resulted in a one-on-one chance. However, Al-Tamari's shot went just wide. It was a chance to seal the game for Jordan. Having survived the scare, Tajikistan continued to push forward.

In the 28th minute, from the center of the field outside the PA, Shukuroff unleashed a powerful, uncontrolled shot. Straight at the keeper.

A completely different look from the first half. It was all-out attack, with Jordan dropping their defense and going into counterattack mode, and Tajikistan pulling up their line. But Jordan was able to nip the danger in the bud by building a thick defense from the second line.

Tajikistan struggled as Panshanbeh moved between the first and second lines. However, they lacked a player who could effectively break through Jordan's thick midfield. Despite seven minutes of second-half stoppage time, Jordan did not concede a goal.

After a dramatic group stage run, a thrilling upset in the Round of 16, and a first-ever quarterfinal appearance, Jordan has made history.
